Well, I have been debating about the idea of putting a 'camper' on the big trailer. I'm not looking at anything huge, just big enough to function. I was thinking about putting something over the wheelwells - basically build a box that is 6'high, 8'wide, and 6'deep. The door would open on to the front deck. I would only ever use that trailer when hauling ATV's like I do now - so I would not be worried about wind because the ATV's sit about 4' high now (with the box mounted). I would only loose 1 ATV place - which the weight of the camper would make up that difference.
My thoughts:
Single bed mattress - it would fit without me having to build any slides - and if needed 2 people could get close and sleep on it. I could put the bed on one of the wheelwells. Being that they are only 2' wide I would have to build a support under the other 16" of mattress (which could contain drawers or cabinets for storage). Over the bed I could mount a microwave and some shelves for storage. On the back wall I would put a 'kitchenette' (mini fridge, sink, small water tank, and storage). On the other wheelwell I would mount a camp toilet, power inverter, and more storage. Also, I could use the wheelwell to build a bench in place. To eat: a folding table. To complete: an EZ up canopy to cover the fron 8' x 8' deck.
I'm really just thinking right now. It would be a neat idea. It would add about 800-1000 lbs to the weight of the trailer, but then again, it would be right over the axles AND I would haul 1 less ATV (at 600lbs) - so it's close enough.
Thoughts? Ideas? Comments? Am I just crazy?
