Watch out for the VC in the tcase they tend to go out. Check for rear main seal leaks. Also the rh46 is garbage. Are you planning on wheeling it or just dd ?

if it has the full-time case (4hi/4lo only) and you want to wheel it, plan on swapping it out for a 242 or 231 case at some point. f*cking 249's suck ass on the trail.
also... like sumner said, the transmissions aren't the greatest either.
other than that, they are pretty stout. not a whole lot of support for the d44a rear axle parts-wise, but it does have disc brakes.
i guess it mainly depends on if you're just going to toy around town with it or want to wheel it and put some money into it.

having DD'd a 5.2 with the 249 and a 4.0 with the 242, the streetability of the 4.0/242 combo drastically outweighs the 5.2/249
for a DD, i'd just pass on it... there is/was a nice ZJ for sale here in down. Hunter Green, 30" wheel package... laredo trim... not sure if it was a 6 or 8... i tend to stay away from jeeps that are for sale... already have too many... lol.

Does it have to be a ZJ? I have an XJ for sale, Dean's seen it. I just bought a pickup truck to haul stuff. I can't have more than three vehicles, I just don't have the room. It has a 2" lift with heavy duty rear springs, runs 235/75 tires and gets 25mpg. It makes a good DD.

It dosen't have to be anything really. The guy wants to trade me my R/C for it. I just need something I can take to Georgia that i won't be deaf by the time I get there. I am looking at a job for the railroad up here but the school is in georgia. What kind of money are you looking for on your XJ?

Are you going to be working for NS? My brother in law worked there for a while. If you have any questions I'm sure I can get you in contact with him.

My wife and I had it back and forth to Rally, NC a couple of times. It runs quite well on the highway, even with the new MT's on it.
I was looking for $1800 for it. If you are interested, email me at: doctorglock@gmail.com
