Hey y'all, My neighbor just inherited a derelict 92 cherokee. It has the factory security system and it actually looks like someone also put on an aftermarket one too.Does anyone know how to bypass this thing? We have it unplugged and the truck will run only for a second then shuts off.Any help would be appreciated, otherwise i think we'll just run wires and switches.

:::shudder::: without looking at it i wouldn't be much help... if he's willing to buy me a tank of gas i can come down and take a look at it... but again, no promises. best bet may be to gut it and rewire it.

Find the main relay/harness and disconnect it/cut it. The factory line is probably connected into the aftermarket alarm also so you will have to buy a chilton/haynes to get a wiring diagram of the factory alarm system to ensure you reconnect the right wires. Serious PITA!! If you need help let me know.

Yeah,my haynes manual was as useless as...well you know. Maybe I can use it for toilet paper next time out in the field. I'm gonna go down tonight and try to rip out the the harness for it. I found the bundle up by the headlight switch which looks like recent tape.I'll keep you guys posted.

Ok I cut the alarm harness out.I was getting fuel up to the fuel rail, but not 35 psi worth.More like 7psi.So I checked voltage at the pigtail at the fuel pump and I am only getting 7 volts.Any guesses or should I just run a wire from the battery and see if it spins up fast enough to stay running? It will keep running if I dribble gas into the throttle body so I know the ignition is good. Plenty of beer available for anyone who wants to help,

Plenty of beer available for anyone who wants to help, Sounds like you either have a short in the line or maybe corroded terminals on a relay/harness, I would definately try running a wire directly from the battery. You may have to run a seperate aux power wire unless you feel up to trouble shooting the factory harness. If that is not your problem your pump could have sh!t the bed. Shouldn't be a clogged line, that would not cause you to lose voltage, but again it doesn't sound like the pump either because you shouldn't be losing voltage in your line. You did take your harness off the pump and test it right? Because if not a bad pump could have dropped the voltage in your line.

hey y'all, I'm gonna try running a straight wire to the pump tonight,The tank was empty for who knows how long. The pump is easy enough to tear out,so no biggie there. The line looks clear since it will pump fuel up to the rail for the cold start good. It's just going to be a trail rig so neither me or my neighbor are scared of running our own wires.
