I keep entertaining the idea of fixing up my CJ. The latest idea was spawned after I bought an old Ford F-150 that my friends and I share for chores and such. It has an 8.8 rear axle. How hard would it be to swap out my AMC model 20 with the Ford 8.8? I wouldn't do it until the truck won't pass inspection anymore. Might not be too much longer.
Let's add one more variable; what if I used YJ springs instead of CJ springs, like Dean told me about?
I tried to sell the old CJ a few times since I got the motor overhauled. Long story short, everybody tried to lo-ball me. I've been driving the CJ around a lot more, and the engine is breaking in well. I'm really starting to get attached to it again. The thing runs like a top!
Anybody ever replace their old CJ windshield wipers with newer ones? Will a YJ motor, arms, and wipers fit on the CJ? That is one of my biggest problems with the CJ. I won't drive it if it's going to rain, the wipers are made out of tin foil. How did they ever use them back in the day?

1) 8.8 into the Cj - all you need to do is get the spring/shock mounts and welding them on in the right location with the right pinion angle and you're good to go. there are a few local shops that have a jig set up if you want to out-source it, or i know a few people that have done the swap
2) if you want to swap the CJ to YJ springs, when you swap the 8.8 would be the *perfect* time... and while you're at it upgrade to a YJ high-pinion D30 with disc brakes and a vacume disconnect delete
3) not sure about the wipers... heard about a few kits, but never seen on ein person
